USA - Beijing
We set out on an invigorating adventure to China aboard a transpacific
flight. Our destination of choice: Beijing, China's legendary capital.
Upon our arrival at Shanghai in the evening, we are met and transferred to the
hotel for a well deserved rest in five star luxury.
After a satisfying breakfast we visit Tiananmen Square, also known
as the "Gate of Heavenly Peace." Stretching over 100 acres,
Tiananmen is reportedly the largest square in the world. Our next stop is
the palatial Foribidden City, where you will be immersed in the immersed in the
resplendent imperial heritage. We will also attend the Summer Palace at
Kunming lake, ending the day's exciting tour with the Temple of Heaven.
Dinner arrangements feature local delicacies such as Peking Duck.
Day 4 Beijing
Today we marvel at the incredible magnitude of the Great Wall. You will
walk along the world famous wall and be inspired by the commanding view and
stark beauty of the timeless frontier. Our next stop is the Ming Tomb
Museum. And, what better way to end the day's unforgettable adventures
than an authentic Chinese Acrobatics Show.
Today we will enjoy a full day of exploring the city of Beijing, at our leisure.
Beijing - Chengdu
Taking a quick flight to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province and home to
China's spiciest foods, today's excursions will include attractions such as the
Zoo, where you will see more pandas than any other zoo in the world, and the
Marquis Wu Shrine, which was built in the 3rd century and houses 47 heroic
figures of the Shu Kingdom.
7 Chengdu - Lhasa
Lhasa, situated 12,000 feet above sea level, is the capital of Tibet
Autonomous Region. We will check in upon our arrival to acclimate
ourselves to the high altitude atmosphere, as the city's thin air can
sometimes induce fatigue.
A scheduled full-day tour will guide us through Lhasa's Potala Palace,
Johkang Lamasery and Norbu Lingka. We will be immersed in the
Tibetan culture on a walk along the city's Barkhor Street. Here,
we'll have a chance to see and purchase colorful ethnic handicrafts rarely
seen outside of Tibet.
Day 9 Lhasa
Our destinations today take us away from the city center to Derpung Lamasery and
Sera Lamaser, while a trip to Yamdrok Ymto Lake, one of Tibet's three Holy
Lakes, highlights the afternoon.
Day 10 Lhasa
Our day begins with a return flight to Chengdu. We will visit the Dujiang
Dam, an ingenious irrigation project built in the 3rd century; continue on to
Wangjiang Tower Park on the bank of the Jinjiang River, and end the day with a
tour of the Institute of Shu Embroidery. For dinner we enjoy spicy
Day 11 Chengdu
In the morning we tour Du Fu Thatched Cottage, the residence of the famous Tang
Dynasty poet. We will later board a flight to xian, China's ancient
capital and home ot the famed Silk Road. In the evening we will be
presented with an exclusive Imperial Dumpling Banquet.
Day 12 Xian
The highlight of our sightseeing today is the world-famous life-sized Terra
Cotta Army. One of the greatest archeological discoveries, the terra
cotta soldiers were unearthed 2,200 years after being buried with Emperor Qin
Shi Huang. Our tour will continue with a visit to the massive City Wall
and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The grand finale of our day, and our time
in Xian, will include a showing ofhte captivating Stage Opera of the Tang
Day 13 Xian
Following breakfast, we will be boarding our flight to Shanghai, China's largest
and most vibrant city. Experience the modern sophistication and historical
charm of Shanghai as we visit the Yu Garden, Nanjing Road, and "the
Bund," the city's most popular, picturesque waterfront.
Day 14 Shanghai
Enjoy a full day of leisure in Shanghai. You can take your time resting,
shopping or sightseeing, or participate in an optional tour to the Garden City
Day 15 Shanghai
We will be boarding an afternoon, homebound international flight, bidding a fond
farewell to China.
